Tai Chi Classes

The Winter 2018 session will begin in January and run through March.

Tuesday and Thursday morning tai chi classes are held from 8 – 9 AM, at the Clubs at the Charles River Park, 10 Whittier Place, Boston, MA.

Tai chi is a Chinese martial art that employs slow intentional movements, coordinated with breathing and imagery, to strengthen and relax the physical body and mind. It enhances and balances the flow of internal energy (qi), resulting in improved health, personal development, and self-defense.

Not just for the fit and able-bodied, tai chi is also famous for its healing applications. Medical research suggests tai chi may have therapeutic benefits for:

  • Cardiovascular disease
  • Balance disorders
  • Low bone density
  • Arthritis
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Stress
  • Attention deficit disorders
  • Sleep disorders
  • Depression

The class introduces students to Cheng Man-Ching’s 37-Movement Short Form, one of the most popular tai chi forms in the West. Emphasis is placed on proper structural alignment, relaxed and mindful movement, and efficient breathing.

Registration reflects $15 per class; please note: the Thursday session has only 11 classes due to the Thanksgiving holiday.
